How to Store Potato

For short-term storage (up to a few days), any storage area will suffice. However, for long-term storage, opt for a dark, cool place (38° to 40°F) with moderate humidity to prevent sprouting and disease susceptibility. A damp cellar or a refrigerator set a few degrees higher than usual with perforated, dark-colored plastic bags is ideal. Avoid exposure to light to prevent greening, and ensure proper air circulation using perforated bags.

Maintain ventilation to facilitate oxygen flow and carbon dioxide release. Avoid storing potatoes with apples, as the ethylene gas emitted by the fruit can hasten spoilage. By adhering to these storage guidelines, you can preserve the quality and freshness of your potato harvest.
