Okra requires a rich, well drained soil. To get a head start you can also pre-soak the seeds the night before planting. Okra can be planted indoors 6-8 weeks before transplant date. Okra loves heat so make sure that the temperature outside is warm and it is 2 weeks past the last frost date. Okra does really when when the temperature is in the range of 80 F – 90 F. Even at 90 F okra keeps growing. When sowing seeds outdoors then you can sow 1″” deep and 4-8″” apart. Okra plant can grow wide hence make sure that there is adequate spacing of 24″” between the plants.

Growing Instruction
Okra requires rich, organic soil to grow the best. This can be accomplished by adding compost and manure in the soil. Seaweed/fish fertilizer can also be used to provide extra kick. Okra does not require that much water and they do pretty good when watered every 7-10 days. If you live in extreme heat area then okra will require more water. Simply, stick your finger into the soil where okra is planted. If you feel that the soil is dry then water the plant.
